SALE EXCELSIOR
ARMSON TROPHY
JUNIOR COMPETITION

The fourth running of "The Armson Trophy Junior Competition" to be held at Sale Excelsior WMC on Sunday 12th September
next year will become the first ever £1000 junior competition in the world of crown green bowls.
Named after Roy Armson who has been a stalwart of the game and a member of Sale Excelsior since 1961 the event hopes
to create many bowlers who will hopefully follow in his illustrious footsteps.
Since it's inaugural introduction to the bowling calender in 2007,the prize fund has steadily increased up to £550.
In securing the financial backing of two main sponsors,Grange Valley Amusements (Tony Gatley) and L&J Printing Services of
Macclesfield(Graham Foster) along with the continued support of Taylor Bowls,Dave Jenkinson,Alan Wilkinson,Dave West,
Andrew Buckley,Premier Bowls,Day's Bowls Supplies,Jack Gartside and anonymous donations the event has been able to reach
organizer Mark Foster's goal of a £1000 prize fund..

Over the past three years competitors from all over the country have endeavoured to win "The Armson Trophy",which shows
that the game still has an intrest and is continuing to survive at grass roots. This is one of the main reasons for Mark Foster
wanting to start the junior competition several years ago, along with wanting to name a trophy after Roy who has been such a
tremendous embassador to the game both off and on the green.
Immediate entry is advised should anyone wish to participate in 2010.The round robin format has proved to be a success and
tagging this onto the £1000 prize fund, entrants will be taking away a minimum of £15 each, ranging upto £100 and a set of
Taylor Bowls for the finalists.
