Name : Phil Cookson Age : 24 Occupation : Recruitment Consultant in Stockport Club(s) : Wharton Cons, Nursery Bowls you use : Taylor Express 2lb 10oz (considering a change though) Best game you've ever played : Have beat a lot of good players but DeKnoop Cup final 2000 at Pack Horse, I won 21-13 last game on and we won by 7 against Houldsworth , felt I could do no wrong. Best player(s) you've ever beaten : My uncle, Glyn Cookson! Still to play some of the top men like Ellis, Wilson and Duncan. Your best bowling quality : Bowling to other peoples jack and my aggressive never say die attitude Your worst bowling weakness : Leading to my jack, inconsistency in my delivery Best bowling achievement : Won a lot with Mid-Cheshire and Cheshire at Junior level and with my club in local leagues, and would like to replicate that with more club, county and individual honours in the future. Biggest bowling disappointment : Missing 2 years bowling in 2002 and 2003 due to living in the South East, I missed it but it also put me 2 years behind people I grew up with. One rule you'd introduce/change : Stamping is good for the game Favourite green : Wharton Cons, Winsford Cons, Farmers Arms Most dreaded other green : Not really got one at the minute. Ambition : Short term - Play for Cheshire. Medium Term - Win a comp or two. Long Term - Be thought of as being a good player and as good as my dad. Funniest bowling moment : Dolly The Sheep being put on the green before a junior final against Yorkshire and using an airhorn throughout the game quite regularly! Best piece of advice you could give : Never give up. |
