Latest player under the spotlight is another young player, Ben Stapleton from the Buersil club, another of Greater Manchester's up and coming players and a member of their junior county side.
Have a read of his "Bowling" Profile. Anyone, and I mean anyone can have a go as I'm sure every player has something interesting to share regardless of what level they play at. What about some of our more senior bowling colleagues who remember the days when there were 2 and 3 deep watching parks matches, and when Dennis Mercer was THE player to beat. Or some who are new to the game and have a different perspective on things.
Anyway, why not have a go at the profile thing yourself by dowloading the questionnaire HERE (click 'Save' when it opens, or copy and paste into something like Microsoft Word). The questions are only a guideline so feel free to add in extra detail or leave out bits you don't fancy, or send something completely different, then email back to us :- feedback@stockportbowls.co.uk and next 'It Could Be You'.
Name : Ben Stapleton Age : 15 Occupation : Holy Cross Sixth Form College (Student_ Club(s) : Buersil, Royton Park Bowls you use : 2lb 8oz, Taylor Elites, high density Best game you've ever played : 21-7 win in Greater Manchester Junior County (AWAY VS POTTERIES AND DISTRICT) Best player(s) you've ever beaten : Alan and John Lancaster in a pairs match Your best bowling quality : Striking and round pegs Your worst bowling weakness : Not making two's when given the opportunity Best bowling achievement : Rochdale Junior Observer Champion 2006 (had to win 6 tiring games!) Biggest bowling disappointment : Losing in Greater Manchester Merit Final, 21-10 and playing well too! One rule you'd introduce/change : Allow jumping and stamping, what the hell, it hardly makes a difference! Favourite green : Whitworth F.C.C Most dreaded other green : Winsford Cons Ambition : Win Waterloo or All England Funniest bowling moment : Playing away for federation in Derbyshire. I ran onto the green trying to stop the ‘running bowl' and ended up flat on the floor. Not only did I ruin that ends of bowls, but I also knocked about 3 other jacks away! Lol! Best piece of advice you could give : Stick at the game. Everyone has bad days so don't be discouraged by a bad performance (believe me, my form is like a light-switch!) |
